The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force made four DUI arrests during a saturation detail conducted in the Sierra Vista area on Saturday, May 28, due to Memorial Day weekend.
The detail was performed by the Sierra Vista Police Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety. The detail resulted in the following: 26 traffic stops or contacts, 21 warnings or repair orders, one miscellaneous civil citation, one aggravated assault felony arrest, one drug-related felony arrest, two drug-related misdemeanor DUI arrests, one regular DUI misdemeanor arrest, and one extreme DUI misdemeanor arrest.
The average blood alcohol content for the two alcohol-related DUI arrests was 0.137. The two drug-related DUI arrests required blood draws.
The Sierra Vista Police Department participated in the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Mandatory Holiday Reporting Period Program by reporting miscellaneous traffic stats from May 27 through May 30, due to Memorial Day weekend. The following stats were recorded: 124 traffic stops or contacts, 99 warnings or repair orders, six miscellaneous civil citations, one civil speed citation, one misconduct involving weapons/prohibited possessor felony arrest, two drug-related felony arrests, one felony warrant arrest, one misdemeanor warrant arrest, two driving on a suspended driver’s license misdemeanor arrests, three drug-related DUI misdemeanor arrests, one regular DUI misdemeanor arrest, one extreme DUI misdemeanor arrests, one super extreme DUI misdemeanor arrest, and one aggravated DUI felony arrest, which was the result of a 1-year-old child being in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
The average blood alcohol content to the three alcohol-related DUI arrests was 0.151. The four drug-related DUI arrests required blood draws.
One traffic stop during this period resulted in the finding of undocumented immigrants who were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
