Last week, Legal Services Corporation honored six Arizonans for pro bono service at an Increasing Access to Justice Reception in conjunction with its quarterly Board of Directors meeting. The recipients were nominated by local LSC grantee organizations, Community Legal Services (CLS), DNA-Peoples Legal Services (DNA) and Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA).

Cochise County's Judge Jim Conlogue (Ret.) was one of the recipients.

Conlogue served as a judge for the Cochise County Superior Court for 26 years before retiring in 2020. Since then, he has provided pro bono services through the Southern Arizona Legal Aid (SALA) Family Law Clinic and Rural Clinic by heading up clinics which have had more than 300 attendees. Conlogue was also recently appointed to SALA’s Board of Directors.

Legal Services Corporation is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. The Corporation currently provides funding to 132 independent nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
